]]>Earlier this week I was blessed to be able to cover Oakland Community College’s volleyball team at their new facility in Auburn Hills. Being the head athletic photographer there and not having too many rules that I need to follow allows me to have greater access during the events. Since that is the case, I try to shoot from a variety of angles that I normally wouldn’t be able to shoot from. One example is the picture above. Below are a few more from their matches and be sure to check out the rest of the images right here!

]]>Lately I haven’t been able to blog as much as I would like too. It is just hard to sit down and find time to actually blog. I have been super busy shooting for Oakland Community College and US Presswire. Today thought, I would like to share some pictures from the 2011 NJCAA Division II Volleyball Regional Championship at Grand Rapids Community College. Oakland Community College played Owens Community College for the title and they came out on top and will be heading to Nationals! Here are a few pictures and if you would like to purchase some please click here.

]]>I haven’t been blogging lately just because I am having trouble finding the time to sit down and write a little something. However, I did want to share a little bit with you today. I have recently started shooting for Oakland Community College Athletics again. The first sport that is in season for them is volleyball. Volleyball is not a sport that I photograph too often but when I got a chance to, I accepted the challenge to try something a little bit out of the norm for me and see what I could come up with.
To start, I wanted to use a remote camera to get two angles on the action. I started off by putting it in the corner off to the side of the court. It was looking decent until the game started and the line judge stood right in front of it. Here is what I got. Not too pretty.
I then decided to move it to where it would be parallel with the net or directly behind the players. When it was behind them I did two things, 1) tight and 2) one wider. The pictures weren’t too bad. The wide angle was cool, but there was too much else in the pictures for my taste. The tighter angle, however, was much cleaner. I was able to get the shot below with the remote camera and the picture right below it is from the camera I was using. I was able to get a nice head on shot, with a pretty neat view from the remote.
Now the picture below is the wider view. It is kind of cool, but there is too much going on in the picture for my taste, and the lights are washing out the ceiling.
Here are just a few other shots from the night.
If you like the pictures be sure to check more out and buy some.
