Recently the University of Toledo was hosting the first and second rounds of the NCAA’s Women’s Basketball Tournament. When I saw that the Vanderbilt Commodores would be heading up from Nashville, TN, I sent a quick email to the SID at Vandy. Over the years I have had the opportunity to build up a relationship with the athletic staff there. In the past I have gotten to know the SID through covering the NCAA Bowling Championship for them in 2013 and 2011. So, when he said he needed a photographer, I was glad to be able to have another opportunity to work with them once again.
Vanderbilt was going up against Arizona State in this first round match up. The game was scheduled for late in the morning so I left the Detroit area early to ensure that I had enough time to make it down in time. Going into the event, I knew some of the shots I wanted to get. Vanderbilt wanted me to capture more of the atmosphere and focus on the action while also including the NCAA logos and so forth.
