This past weekend I was blessed to be able to travel to Dublin, Ohio. My editor sent me down to the Muirfield Village Golf Club to cover the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide. I was happy to go! Golf is something that I really enjoying covering. I like that it is outdoors and there are many ways to be creative with your photographs.
I only covered the third and final rounds, so I arrived early Saturday morning so that I could figure out the layout of the course and familiarize myself with everything. My first assignment on Saturday was to follow Tiger Woods for a few holes.
I followed him for four holes before I headed back to the media room to transmit. After transmitting and grabbing something to eat, I headed back out onto the course to meet up with the leaders. At this point in the tournament there were a handful of golfers that were all doing pretty well. My colleague and I texted each other to communicate on who we each were covering. This allowed us to get the best coverage possible.
On Sunday, the final round, I arrived not quite as early. I went out to the practice green where Tiger Woods and Matt Kuchar, who was the leader, were warming up. I then headed over to the first tee to shoot the leaders as they teed off. Once they all teed off, I went back to the media room to transmit some photos. I then headed back out to catch up with the leaders. I kept up with them until the ninth hole before transmitting again. Once I was done, I caught up with Scott Stallings who had made a run earlier in the day with seven birdies. After getting some shots of Stallings, I met up with the leaders once again to follow them the rest of the way through. Here are some shots of the final round.
